(English) Grand Duchess Maria Teresa paid a visit to asylum seekers in Dudelange

03 October 2016

Her Royal Heigness Grand Duchess Maria Teresa, president of Red Cross Luxembourg, paid a visit to the families staying at Dudelange’s (Luxembourg) asylum seeker center on September 13th, two days before the start of the school year.

On her arrival at the center, two refugee children presented her with a bouquet of flowers as a welcome. After a guided tour of the premises of the center, S.A.R Grand Duchess Maria Teresa was given the opportunity to meet some families from Afghanistan, Iraq and Syria. They told her about their journey to Luxembourg.

A young syrian girl was proud to honour the Grand Duchess with a short piano recital before the visit reached its end on a very generous snack prepared by the residents themselves which Maria Teresa enjoyed very much.

33 three to sixteen year old children and adolescents, accommodated in Dudelange, were about to go back to school like any other child living in Luxembourg.
