Psy-Jeunes

Promoting psychological well-being

Children, teenagers and young adults might reach a point in their life which may seem hopeless to them or to those around them. To respond to their distress, the Luxembourg Red Cross offers a psychological support service.

Psychological and psychotherapeutic consultations

The Psy-Jeunes service offers outpatient psychological and psychotherapeutic care for children, teenagers and young adults (0-21 years) in need of help with the aim to promote their long-term psychological well-being. This is carried out in a setting of confidentiality and empathy all while respecting professional secrecy. The suffering of young people can take different forms: trauma, reactions to severe stress, depression, anxiety, shyness or social isolation, low self-esteem, eating or sleep disorders, suicidal thoughts, childhood emotional disorders, attachment and regulation disorders.

Methods used

In order to best meet the needs of young people and their entourage, the Psy-Jeunes team offers a wide range of methods:

  • Behavioural therapy,
  • EMDR and other treatment methods for post-traumatic stress disorder (from birth),
  • Pattern therapy,
  • Clinical hypnosis,
  • Systemic therapy,
  • Person-centred approach
  • Psychodrama.

How to benefit from the help of psy-jeunes?

Contact can be initiated via a call to 2755, an e-mail to psyjeunes@croix-rouge.lu, or via the ONE (Office National de l’Enfance / National Office for Childhood). At the time of initial registration, the person concerned must be younger than 21 years old. Therapy may continue until his or her 27th birthday. Therapies are carried out in Luxembourgish, German and French. The presence of an interpreter is also possible if needed.

The various support measures are paid for by the ONE if the intervention project has been validated beforehand. A financial contribution can be requested from the parents. In individual and exceptional cases, the Luxembourg Red Cross can finance the therapy.
